Minutes

 

 

 

 

1.         CALL MEETING TO ORDER

President Marcia Kampling called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  Members present were Jarrod Bartlett, Brandt Ditgen, Jason Gregory, Julie Peintner, Rusty Slusser and Matt Voth.  Also present were David Grover, Superintendent; Greg Rosenhagen, CHS Principal; Ron Orsak, CMS Principal; Sherri Conrad, CES Principal; Todd Hague, Activities Director; Lori Kutilek, Director of Teaching and Learning and Dawn Hampel, Board Clerk.

 

2.         PUBLIC FORUM

            J.C. Moore (R) candidate for 93rd district addressed the Board regarding his run for State Representative.

 

3.         APPROVAL OR REVISION OF AGENDA

            It was moved by Brandt Ditgen and seconded by Jason Gregory to approve the agenda as           presented.  Motion carried  7-0

 

4.         APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA

            It was moved by Julie Peintner and seconded by Jarrod Bartlett to approve the consent agenda    as presented.  Motion carried  7-0

 

·         Minutes of May 14, 2018 Regular Meeting

·         Payment of Bills

·         Approve calendar

·         Wrestling Coop with Kingman

·         Approve enrollment fees (adult meal price $3.65)

·         Approve $500 donation from Cheney Alumni Assoc. for CMS camera

·         Out-of-district applications

 

5.         REPORT ON STATE ASSESSMENTS

            Lori Kutilek, Director of Teaching and Learning, discussed questions from the Board regarding      the results of the state assessments.

 

6.         VALEDICTORIAN REPORT BY HS ADMINISTRATION

            HS Principal Greg Rosenhagen shared with the Board the process used to choose the     Valedictorians each year.

 

7.         LEADERSHIP REPORTS

            CMS PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:

                          Attended the KSDE Impact Institute at Emporia on June 4 & 5

                        ● ESSDACK training on Project Based Learning will be on June 20 & 21

 

           

            CCR DIRECTOR’S REPORT:

                          Perkins Reserve Grant Award - $1,690 for a Health Science Pathway

                          Summer School – June 5-28 with 14 students attending Monday through Thursday                               8:00 am-12:00pm

                         STEM Camp -June 25-28 -12:00pm -3:00pm with 25 participants pre-registered

 

            ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR’S REPORT:

                          Discussed the travel arrangements for school summer activities – school owned                                   vehicles vs. personal transportation

 

8.         BOE REPORTS

            Nothing to report.

 

9.         SPECIAL MEETING TO CLOSE OUT THE 2017-18 BUDGET

            It was moved by Jason Gregory and seconded by Rusty Slusser to hold the 2018 EOY Budget     Meeting at 7:00 am on June 26th in the District Office.  Motion carried  7-0

 

10.        EXECUTIVE SESSION

            At 7:55 pm it was moved by Jarrod Bartlett and seconded by Rusty Slusser to enter into   executive session for the purpose of discussing personal matters of non-elected personnel       under *KOMA, to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed, except that   any such person shall have the right to a public hearing if requested by that person, because if these matters were discussed in open session it might invade the privacy of those discussed and       to protect the privacy rights of an employee who is identifiable and that the Board enter into          executive session to discuss matters relating to employer-employee negotiations under *KOMA,      whether or not in consultation with the representative or representatives of the body or agency to          protect the district’s right to the confidentiality of its negotiating position and the public interest in          negotiating a fair and equitable contract and that the Board resumed open session in this     room at             9:10 pm.   (Present were BOE members, the Superintendent and the CES Principal)    Motion             carried  7-0

           

            *KOMA – Kansas Open Meetings Act

 

            The CES Principal left Executive session at 8:50 pm.

 

            The Board resumed open session at 9:10 pm.

 

11.        ACCEPTANCE OF JOB OFFERINGS / RESIGNATIONS

            It was moved by Matt Voth and seconded by Rusty Slusser to approve the following transfers:                                                                  Motion carried  7-0

                        Dana Richardson from CES Day Custodian to CES Head Custodian

 

12.        ADJOURNMENT

            President Marcia Kampling adjourned the meeting at 9:15 pm.
