Minutes



1.    CALL MEETING TO ORDER

President Jason Gregory called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  Members present were Jarrod Bartlett, Brandt Ditgen, Marcia Kampling, Rusty Slusser and Matt Voth.  Member Van Dewey was absent.  Also present were David Grover, Superintendent; Greg Rosenhagen, CHS Principal;  Sherri Conrad, CES Principal; Todd Hague, Activities Director; Jodi Grover, CCR Director; Brad Buscher, Technology Director and Dawn Hampel, Board Clerk.

   

2.    PUBLIC FORUM

    No patrons were present.


3.    APPROVAL OR REVISION OF AGENDA

It was moved by Rusty Slusser and seconded by Brandt Ditgen to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried  6-0


4.    APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA

    It was moved by Marcia Kampling and seconded by Brandt Ditgen to approve the consent     agenda as presented.   Motion carried   6-0

  • Minutes of October 12, 2015 Special and Regular Meeting

  • Payment of Bills

  • Payment of Bond Bills

  • Out-of-District Application


5.    LEGISLATIVE UPDATES FROM SENATOR KERSCHEN AND REPRESENTATIVE WHITMER

    Senator Dan Kerschen reviewed with the Board several items being discussed at the State     including educational issues regarding the Block Grant Funding.  


    Representative John Whitmer was not in attendance.


6.    DLR / COONROD & ASSOCIATES CONSTRUCTION REPORT

    Kevin Greischar of DLR Group and Brad Rice of Coonrod & Associates updated the Board with     regards to the construction progress and costs to date.  The Board is going to form a two person     committee to meet with DLR and Coonrod representatives to work on final decisions and     make     some choices on the pending items.


7.    UPDATE FROM THE TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE

    Technology Director Brad Buscher reviewed with the Board the current status of the district’s     technology devices and discussed several options as we move forward.


8.    ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS

    Superintendent’s Report:

  • KASB Convention

  • Reviewed the Gannon Case




    CHS Principal’s Report:

  • HS Play Nov 13th & 14th

  • League Stuco – Cheney is hosting

  • Working on Teacher evaluations

  • A+ Initiative Update


    CES Principal’s Report:

  • they have moved into new office area

  • P/T conferences information

  • Had a vocal music concert last week

  • Dec 3rd is a Third Grade concert

  • Teachers have completed Engineering by Design

  • Teachers to Next Gen Science Workshop

  • information on the PE workshop

  • Working on some Discovery Room options


    Activity Director’s Report:

  • Cheney was FB District Champions

  • KSHSAA All League selections were held

  • Wendy’s HS Heisman Honorees are Allie Twietmeyer and Austin Wheelock

  • Winter sports are beginning

  • MS basketball has already started

  • Cheney will hold an Officials Clinic on Saturday


    CCR Director’s Report:

  • C Perkins Reserve Grant is being used for entrepreneurship projects

  • Gave an update on Test Fest


9.    BOE REPORTS

    Rusty Slusser attended the October Special Education Coop Board of Director’s meeting.

    He said they are going paperless for their meetings and plan on using Board Docs for their     meeting documents.  He said they are also looking into hiring a Resource Officer.

       

10.    EXECUTIVE SESSION

At 11:05 pm Matt Voth moved, seconded by Marcia Kampling, that the Board enter into executive session to discuss personal matters of non-elected personnel to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed because if this matter were discussed in open session it might invade the privacy of those discussed and that the Board return to open session in this room at 11:30 pm.  Motion carried   6-0    (Present were BOE members and Superintendent)


    The Board resumed open session at 11:30 pm.


14.    APPROVAL OF JOB OFFERINGS / RESIGNATIONS

    It was moved by Marcia Kampling and seconded by Matt Voth to approve the following job     offerings:            Motion carried  6-0

    Julie Pauly    CES Teacher Aide

    Kenneth Hair    Bus Driver

    Robert Henry    CES Night Custodian


15.    ADJOURNMENT   

    President Jason Gregory adjourned the meeting at 11:32 pm.
