BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING

7:00 pm Regular Meeting

 

Minutes

 

 

1.         CALL MEETING TO ORDER

President Jason Gregory called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.  Members present were Jarrod Bartlett, Van Dewey, Brandt Ditgen, Marcia Kampling, Rusty Slusser and Matt Voth.  Also present were David Grover, Superintendent; Greg Rosenhagen, CHS Principal; Amy Wallace, CMS Principal; Sherri Conrad, CES Principal; Todd Hague, Activities Director; Jodi Grover, CCR Director and Dawn Hampel, Board Clerk.

 

2.         PUBLIC FORUM

            No patrons were present.

 

3.         APPROVAL OR REVISION OF AGENDA

It was moved by Rusty Slusser and seconded by Matt Voth to approve the agenda as presented.  Motion carried   7-0

 

4.         APPROVAL OF THE CONSENT AGENDA

It was moved by Marcia Kampling and seconded by Jarrod Bartlett to approve the consent agenda as presented.  Motion carried   7-0

 

5.         DLR UPDATE

Doug Loveland from DLR Group gave the Board a recap of the days meeting with staff.  He also shared with the Board some preliminary drawings of ideas for the renovations and additions.

            He will return on September 22 for follow up sessions with the staff and share the modifications.

 

6.         APPOINTMENT TO CHENEY RECREATION COMMISSION BOARD

With the resignation of Jamie Rumford, the BOE needs to appoint a representative from the district to replace him.  It was the consensus of the Board to table this until the Cheney Recreation Commission’s by-laws could be reviewed.  

           

7.         ADOPT SITE COUNCIL MEMBERSHIP FOR EACH BUILDING

It was moved by Rusty Slusser and seconded by Van Dewey to approve each of the buildings SITE council memberships.  Motion carried  7-0

 

8.         ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORTS

            Superintendent’s Report:

·         Report on 5 year trends on the average ACT scores

 

            CHS Principal’s Report:

·         Discussed the seatbelt safety program

CMS Principal’s Report:

·         7-8 grade drug safety program

 

            CES Principal’s Report:

·         DARE Program update with Chief Winters

·         Discussed slight changes in the elementary schools grade cards

 

            Activities Director’s Report:

·         Fall activities participation update

 

CCR Director’s Report:

·         Reviewed calendar of upcoming activities

·         Shared grant opportunities

·         Discussed district’s current Pathway’s

·         Shared upcoming events for the CCR program

 

9.         BOE REPORTS

            No report for this month

 

10.        EXECUTIVE SESSION

At 9:50 pm it was moved by Marcia Kampling and seconded by Jarrod Bartlett that the Board enter executive session to discuss personal matters of non-elected personnel to protect the privacy interests of the individual(s) to be discussed because if this matter were discussed in open session it might invade the privacy of those discussed and for preliminary discussions relating to the acquisition of real property because if this matter were discussed in open session it might jeopardize the Board’s ability to acquire the property and to protect the district’s financial interest and bargaining position and that the Board return to open session in this room at 11:10 pm.  Motion carried   7-0   (Present were BOE members, the Superintendent and the CES Principal)

           

The ES Principal left executive session at 10:15 pm.

The MS Principal and the HS Principal entered executive session at 10:15 pm.

The MS Principal left executive session at 10:50 pm.

The HS Principal left executive session at 10:55 pm.

 

            The Board resumed open session at 11:10 pm.

 

11.        JOB OFFERINGS / RESIGNATIONS

It was moved by Marcia Kampling and seconded by Van Dewey to approve the following contracts and supplemental contracts:  Motion carried   7-0

                        Michel Williams – Concessionaire

                        Jenny Twietmeyer – Transfer from Bus Aide to Bus Driver

                        Melissa Shoemaker – Bus Aide

                        Christy Wohlford – Bus Aide

                        Heather Berry – CES Dishwasher

                        Christy Cantrell – CES Assistant Cook

                        Kevin Schultz – MS Asst. Football Coach

                        Jamie Augustyn – MS Asst. Track Coach

                        Rene’ Dunn – re-hire as part-time teacher’s aide

 

12.        ADJOURNMENT

            President Jason Gregory adjourned the meeting at 11:12 pm.
